Where is Peace?

What things make you happy? What situations make you peaceful? As we usually experience, our mind peace, rest and security depend upon the outside situations we see.

Comfortable situations make us happy and painful situations disturb us. We love those who love us and hate those who hate us. However, we are not designed by our creator that way.

In the Bible Jesus talks about two kinds of life. In John chapter 4 verse 13 & 14 he said the following;

All who drink this water will be thirsty again. Anyone who drinks the water I give him will never be thirsty. The water I give him will become a spring of water in him.

The one life he talked about is the life we are practicing now; we are peaceful whenever things are fine, we are upset when things go wrong. This kind of peace is like the water mentioned at first. We drink it and we will be thirsty again. But the peace, rest and the life Jesus has given us is like the second type of water. It is a spring inside us. Peace, love and rest come out of us. There is a spring of them inside us. Our peace has nothing to do with external situations we see and pass. Our love has no connection whether people love or hate us. We just love everyone no matter what. We are peaceful and restful in any kind of situation.

You may say this is an ideal state. But it is not. Because we train ourselves to be happy and upset depending on external situations, the life God has given us seems a very far away and ideal concept. But we are designed that way; to be always happy and peaceful despite any external situation. Jesus made us like that. What we need is giving recognition for this kind of life we got from God and start practicing and living upon it.

Forget the situations you pass into. The Bible says; We know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose. Romans chapter 8 verses 28.  Everything happens to you for your own good. Above all you have almighty God who can take care of you throughout your life time. God is always good. His plans are always perfect. He just only needs your permission to be there for you. And he is really trustworthy in any situation you walk upon.
